Network for pervasive communication

The knowledge network for pervasive communication is a cross-regional network which was initiated in 2005.

The network will be of great value for both industry and knowledge institutions. A unique feature of the network is that it works crosswise of subject areas, businesses and regions and thereby it draws attention to competences and research areas. The aim of the network is to create an internationally competitive research cluster within the field of pervasive communication and it will give Danish companies the opportunity of being among the front-runners as regards the latest technology.

The network is partly funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Greater Copenhagen Authority.

Aim

The aim of the network is to

  • gather and communicate results from projects and research nationally and internationally
  • develop and carry out new research, development and demonstration projects
  • create a base for knowledge sharing and partnerships between knowledge institutions and companies
  • initiate events and activities that promote knowledge sharing.

Subject groups

As a starting point, three subject groups have been formed which will work crosswise of the knowledge institutions in the network. They aim at companies in different positions in the value chain.

  • Subject group 1- Models, methods and tools for pervasive communication
  • Subject group 2 - Infrastructure for pervasive communication
  • Subject group 3 - Knowledge sharing based on pervasive communication.

Each subject group is directed by a supervisor who is a recognized researcher in the field.

Services for members

The following are examples of services offered by the network during 2005:

  • Matchmaking
  • Hotline
  • Knowledge base
  • Mediator
  • Projects
  • Education
  • Expert knowledge
  • Events

Membership

The knowledge network for Pervasive Communication is a semi-open group in which everyone who shares the visions of the network are wellcome. The membership fee is based on active participation by all in creating activities, knowledge sharing and projects.
