Matchmaking

The mission of the Alexandra Institute is to act as a bridge builder between the corporate sector and research. The objective is to create innovation in the corporate sector through the use of the latest knowledge and technology and correspondingly to participate in inspiring researchers with problems from the real world.

Research is not translated into new products and services without an active effort of using the research results. In the capacity of their profession most researchers are naturally more interested in research-related goals than in business goals but to many researchers the fact applies that their research is dependent on the results being tested out.

For companies it can be difficult to find the researchers who have precisely the knowledge and the competencies that the company requires.

The core competence of the Institute is matchmaking between companies and research – that is to help companies and researchers find each other.

For instance if a company is planning a development project, the Institute - through its large network - will be able to assess if the project has a research content and in most cases identify researchers for the project. Conversely the Institute will often be able to help researchers find companies who require their knowledge and competencies.

The role of the Alexandra Institute as a bridge builder is not just between public research and private companies but also between member companies. A membership gives access to a network of member companies with competencies within a number of areas and with that a possibility of finding partners for projects, which a company is not able to handle alone.
